HOME UPDATE: Window Valances   We moved into our home over 9 years ago and the previous owners left behind their window treatments. Initially I was happy to have them and liked them enough. These valances in the formal living room were a nice neutral color, however, as my taste evolved over the years, I realized they just weren't really my style. My sister-in-law described them best - they were very "heavy."  I was at a friend's house and admired her window treatments and she told me they were from Smith & Noble. So I went to the Smith & Noble website and started looking at options, and ordered a bunch of fabric samples (they're all free). My husband and I narrowed it down to 3-4 options and then I connected with one of their designers for a free consultation. She was able to create mock ups for me so we could see what each pattern would look like in our current space. We were torn between two options, a watercolor leafy pattern and colorful dots (see bel...
Friday Favorites 1) I saw this heart sweatshirt on Instagram and had to have it. I think it will be perfect for Valentine's Day. The medium was sold out so I had to get a small....fingers crossed it fits. 2) My friend got this similar one from J Crew Factory. It's almost sold out but I was able to snag one. J Crew Factory is having some amazing sales right now.  3) Speaking of J Crew Factory sales....I got this dress for about $15! I'm a sucker for anything pineapple. 4) I didn't get this one (yet) but I also really like it. And it's only $23! 5) I bought this dress this summer, and paid more. It's cute, very "summery" and can be worn with wedges or flats and fun jewelry. 6) I got this leopard shirt for $9.00. I mean, $9.00! I seriously don't know how they stay in business. I think it's a good piece because I can wear it to work or out to dinner. Happy Shopping! xo, Heather
Friday Favorites - Lilly Pulitzer Edition Happy Friday! My favorites this week are all from the Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale. It happens twice a year, and it is my absolute favorite sale (except for maybe the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale). Every time it happens I say I don't need anything, I already have enough Lilly, and I'm not going to buy anything. And every time, I always end up getting a few pieces. The price are just too good to resist! The catch is that you can't return anything, so I have ended up with a few things over the years that I either didn't like or didn't fit. I end up giving them to friends or reselling on facebook, ebay, etc. Here are my favorite from this year. The sale is over and most of these items are no longer on the Lilly site. However, I've noticed that the After Party sales tend to repeat the same items so if there is anything you like keep an eye for the next one.  You can also find many of these at Nordstrom or on resale sites l...
#GOALS I've been toying with the idea of writing a blog for years now, so it's fitting that my first ever post is on January 1st. I'm still not sure if I'll ever share it, so for now it is a place for me to write down my thoughts. Like many people, I've been reflecting about my goals for 2021. Maybe if I write them down here I'll actually stick to them! I also want to be realistic and not set myself up for failure. I've been thinking about some real life changes I can make and things I want to accomplish this year. So here goes: (in no particular order): 1) GET IN SHAPE/LOSE WEIGHT.  I know, I know, this is probably everyone's goal. I gained 12 lbs since quarantine and I feel really uncomfortable in my own skin. Maybe that's because my jeans don't fit me anymore.  I legit can't close them. I'm not sure how it happened, because when COVID hit aI went for long walks almost every day. My eating habits didn't change, although I probably d...
