BIRTHDAY BONANZA! Jack turns 7 and Laura turns 9!

There's the expression "March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb." I know it refers to weather but it applies to my life. Both Jack and Laura have birthdays the first week of March so I'm always busy this time of year planning their parties. Although this year was much more low key because of Covid.

Jack is really enjoying hockey and loves the Rangers so coming up with his theme was pretty easy. We had a small party with about 10 children at the local ice arena. We had the rink to ourselves and it was a blast. Brian even bought pads so he could play goalie. The only disappointment was the cake. Jack REALLY wanted chocolate cake and was very specific. I ordered the cake from Stop & Shop and when we cut into we realized they had made a vanilla cake. Jack was bummed but didn't make a big deal in front of his peeps and I made it up to him the next day with an Entemann's chocolate cake.

Last year Laura was watching the LaBrant family on YouTube and the little girl had a birthday sleepover with these tents. She immediately said that was what she wanted for her next birthday and I couldn't blame her - it was adorable! I wish they had something like that when I was younger. Through Facebook I found out that a friend from high school had a company called Tee Pee Dreamz that does these types of parties. Laura is a phase where she "hates pink" and wanted a soccer theme with the color green. It came out great! Laura doesn't like cake so we ordered donuts from Dunkin Donuts in the number 9 shape. They kinda looked like the lowercase letter "g" but were still cute. The day of the sleepover Laura wanted to get her hair blown out and curled. It kills me that she wants to curl her hair and all my life I wanted straight her. You always want what you can't have!

It was fun celebrating Jack and Laura and I hope they will always remember these birthdays. I can't believe my babies are 7 and 9! Please time slow down.

Happy Friday! The summer is coming crashing to an end and I'm not happy about it. But I am excited for the new school year. We're in Hampton Bays for one last weekend and I'm really trying to relax and enjoy every minute of it. We have friends coming out tomorrow for one last hurrah! Here are some of my favorites lately... 1. New Wall Gallery : Earlier in the summer we did a family photo shoot on the beach. One of my summer projects was to switch out the canvases in our hallway, which had photos from 8 years ago! The kids were babies in them....it was time! I moved the canvases to Brian's office. I went with something a little more modern and ordered these acrylic frames from Pottery Barn.   2. New Balance Sneakers: I just got these 327 sneakers from New Balance. I saw a woman on the train wearing them and had to have them. I didn't realize how popular they are right now until after I purchased them. My sister has several pairs and lovs them. She wears them to commu...
Friday, November 8, 2024 1. Joe McIntrye in Drag the Musical: On Wednesday I met some friends in NYC to see Joe McIntyre in Drag the Musical. I'm a huge NKOTB fan so I couldn't miss the opportunity to see my favorite New Kid on Broadway. We had bar stool seats right on the stage! Besides gushing over being so close to Joey, we really enjoyed the show. It was funny and entertaining. Afterwards we saw Joey leaving the theater and he was super nice and happy to take photos with us.  2. Old Navy Sequin Skirts: I wore this Old Navy black sequin skirt to the theater; along with my NKOTB BlockCon tee shirt. The skirt was really comfortable and not itchy at all. I also bought the long sequin skirt in the silver color. I haven't purchased the dress yet because I can't decide on a color but it's in my cart. These pieces are affordable and perfect for when you want a little sparkle.  Old Navy Short Sequin Skirt Old Navy Long Sequin Skirt Sequin Dress 3. Target Bow Heels : I ...
July 19, 2024 We're wrapping up on second week of camp and summer is flying by....I'm trying to enjoy it instead of thinking about summer being over soon. On Wednesday my cousin Gerard and I took the train into the city to see the Irish band the Saw Doctors perform at Central Park Summer Stage. We had about a 25 block walk from Grand Central to Central Park and we popped into bars as we made our way uptown. We even made an impromptu visit to my sister at her office building. It was so much fun! The concert was great but the band had to stop after an hour because of lightning and thunder. Just as we were walking out of the park the skies opened and we got SOAKED! The train ride home in soggy wet clothes was NOT a favorite.  I have a long list of small house projects to accomplish this summer. This week I did a deep cleaning of Jack's room. One down, several more to go!  HeyNuts High Waisted Leggings:  I didn't do much shopping on Prime Day, but I did score these Hey Nuts...
