So it's been a minute since I did a blog post. I was having too much fun enjoying the summer and then the school year started and it's been crazy ever since. This year more than ever before life feels chaotic. I'm not sure if it's because Laura started Middle School, or I have more students this year, but I've been overwhelmed. I finally feel like I'm starting to catch up. Here's a look at what we've been up to.

What We've Been Watching

Our friends recommended this series and we just finished it last night. I liked it more than I thought I would. A famous winemaker dies and his estranged daughter and protege compete for the inheritance. It is based in Tokyo, Italy, and France so the scenery is beautiful.. The language is mostly in French and Japanese but don't let that deter you....you can watch with English subtitles (and that counts as reading, IMO!). The two main characters are very interesting and you learn more about them and their family dynamics....and there is a twist! I highly recommend watching this - with a glass of wine, of course.

What I've Been Reading

My book club read The Housemaid last month and we loved it, so we decided to read the sequel, The Housemaid's Secret. I haven't started it yet, but I'm looking forward to it. Although I can't image it will live up to the first book....stay tuned!

What I've Been Listening To

I love listening to a podcast while I'm driving, or doing household chores like laundry. A good podcast makes those mundane tasks more enjoyable. Mostly I listed to murder stories like Dateline, 20/20 and Snapped, but the other day I took a break and listened to Bethenny Frankel's podcast. I liked the episode with Tiffani Thiessen. The 90s girl in me still loves Kelly Kapowski, and as a mom in my 40s myself, I found her very relatable. Tiffani wrote  a cookbook about using leftovers which I'm going to check out.

What I've Been Wearing

I haven't put away my summer clothes and taken my fall clothes out of storage in the basement, so I've been getting by with the jeans, sweatshirts and dresses in my closet. But the temperature dropped in NY this week and it's going to force me to get the fall/winter clothes out....I've set aside some time on Saturday to get my wardrobe organized. In the meantime, I want to share this cool necklace that I've been wearing. I've always loved elephants, especially since spending some time with them on our honeymoon in Thailand. And our town is the Somers Tuskers and our mascot the elephant. It's from www.lolacompany.com and they have lots of really nice pendants.

What We've Been Up To

This weekend my college bestie and I ran a 5k with some of our friends. We were very tired (and a little hungover!) but we got it done! We do this race every year and I always look forward to the girl time together.

That's all! Thanks for reading.
xoxo

It has been a BUSY but fun couple of weeks around here. Today is my last day of work for awhile and I'm hoping to enjoy some down time as we head into August. I have lots of favorites to share this Friday start with... 1. ENGLISH FACTORY DRESSES: My friend has this dress and it's adorable on her. I had my eye on it for awhile and pulled the trigger when it went sale. I can't wait to wear it this weekend! Sunni Color Block Dress 2. BASEBALL LIFESTYLE : My son Jack is very into this Baseball Lifestyle 101 brand. It's all the rage with the baseball players. He typically wears hand me downs so I treated him to these shorts in blue and pink and the short sleeve hoodie. Baseball Shorts 3. CHERRIES: My obsession with cherries continues. I picked up this straw bag at a local boutique, a cute tank at Old Navy, and some fun items at Five Below.  Old Navy Cherry Tank ...
August 22, 2025 1. GIRL TIME: I spent a few days in the Hamptons with my mom this week. Brian and the kids stayed home since sports have already kicked off. Even though Mom lives with us now, we haven’t had much one-on-one time, so it was really nice to catch up. My friend Carrie was also out there solo, so we squeezed in lots of shopping! Such a nice little break before the craziness starts next week. 2. OOFOS flip flops: One of my neighbors has these and swears by them. I bought them in black and have to admit, they are VERY comfortable. I expect to be wearing these to lost of games in the fall.  Oofos Original Sandal 3. NEW RUGS: Carrie and I were both on the hunt for rugs and I ended up finding this beautiful blue one at HomeSense. The navy, red, and white rug is from Pottery Barn, and I scored it for an amazing deal on Facebook Marketplace! 3. TUCKERNUCK SAMPLE SALE: The semi-annual Tuckernuck sample sale is live and it's sooooo good. There were so many pieces I loved but I...
LOW LEVEL GOALS FOR 2025 Today I'm linking up with Erika to share our goals for 2024. I like that they are calling these "low level" goals because I don't want to set myself up for failure. I've made the mistake in previous years of setting lofty goals that weren't attainable. So here we go.... Read 25 Books in 2025: Last year I wanted to read 24 books in 2024 and I fell a little short. I think I read about 20. But this year I'm committed. I really enjoy reading so it shouldn't be too hard. The issue is finding the time. We have a vacation planned in April and I love to read on vacation. I also love hunkering down under a blanket with a good book during the colder months.  Take Online Classes: I'm a teacher and our district offers pay increases every time you earn an additional 30 credits up to 120 credits. This year my goal is to earn 30 credits (10 classes) before September 1st. A couple of years ago I earned my first 30 and I've slacking...
