We went to Hampton Bays with my mom and my sister and her family for Memorial Day weekend. Watching the cousins play together in my favorite place is always very special. As my Dad used to say, "Happy Days in Hampton Bays."
I blogged about this patio set in my Friday Favorites. This weekend we set it up on the upper deck and it is the perfect size for the space. I really love how it turned out!
We have two peony plants in our backyard. Every year around this time the flowers bloom. I love them not only because they're pretty and fragrant, but it means school is almost out for summer!
On Monday we had McDonald's for dinner on our way home from the Hamptons. Yesterday Brian made boneless ribs in the crockpot and we served them over egg noodles and mashed potatoes from the box. Tonight Jack has a playoff game so we'll be eating a bagel in the car or something from the concession stand. I haven't even thought about tomorrow night yet. Some weeks I've very organized and plan out our meals. This week is not one of them.
I've started making a Shutterfly album with our Jamaica pics, so I've been reminiscing about that trip. It was so great. I'm going to give our friends copies of the album as a keepsake.
In Hampton Bays you can park at the beaches with a seasonal sticker on your car. This weekend I got our 2024 sticker which signals to me the start of summer. Summer 2024 we are ready for you!
I recently finished The Last Love Note by Emma Grey. I liked it very much. It is about a young window who lost her husband to early onset Alzheimer's Disease. It's heavy at times, and sad so not a light beach read if that is what you're looking for. I would recommend it though because I became very invested in the main characters and felt good about how the book ended.
When I was in Charleston my friend was reading The Idea of You and highly recommended it; with the caveat that it is a little "R" rated. It's about a 39-year old divorced woman who attends a boy band concert with her daughter, and ends up forming a connections with one of the band members. The band feels very One Direction. The Idea of You is now a movie starring Anne Hathaway. Brian really wants to watch the movie, but I told him not until I finish the book!
That's What's Up This Wednesday! If you made it this far, thanks for reading!
xoxo
