January 31, 2024 Thank goodness this is the LAST DAY of January! This month has felt like forever. I am ready for February! I've been blogging with more regularity. I think I've written more posts in 2024 than I did all of last year. I'm not sure if anyone is reading or cares, but I'm enjoying doing it. And that's what matters, right? Almost everything I'm posting here is a recap of what my friends and I have sent to one another - favorite clothes, shoes, books, TV shows, home decor, etc. I get my best ideas from instagram, pinterest, and my friends. It if wasn't for them I wouldn't know what to wear, what to read, or what to watch! WHAT I'M WATCHING AMERICAN NIGHTMARE: This show was recommended to me by a friend and it trending on Netflix, so my mom and I started it last night. We watched one and a half episodes. I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. I love a True Crime story, but this seems crazy. It's a bit of a train wreck but only a few ...
January 26, 2024 1. Wonka Movie : We don't often go to the movies, but last week we took the kids to the Wonka movie. It was great! I didn't know what to expect and I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. And of course, we needed lots of candy for this one! If you're looking for a family-friendly outing, check out this movie.  2. Chicken Meatballs in a Lemon Caper Sauce : I saw this recipe on Instagram and wanted to try it. Laura loves chicken francese and Jack loves capers, so it was a win-win. The sauce is very similar (if not identical) to a francese sauce. Laura doesn't like capers, so I went light on them and Jack added extra to his portion. It was easy to make and a big hit in my house. I'm going to add it to our meal rotation.  3. Madonna - The Celebration Tour: On Monday night I trekked into the city with 3 of my girlfriends to see Madonna at Madison Square Garden. When we originally bought the tickets, the show was supposed to be in August. I was not exc...
Heather's Friday Faves: January 19, 2024 Last weekend we went away to Okemo, VT with friends. My friend Kim had on the cutest Sorel boots and Free People top. I loved them both so much I had to order them too! They haven't arrived yet, but if they look half as good on my as they did on her I'll be happy! I don't own a lot of Free People clothing so I'm curious to see how I like the top. I heard it runs small so I ordered a medium. I got the tea rose color, but there are several options. When I first starting looking my size was sold out, but I kept checking and was able to snag it.  1.  Women's Sorel Out N About Boots 2.  Free People All Too Well Cuff 3. Target: I had a gift card to Target that one of my students gave me for Christmas and I just used it to get these earrings and sandals. I thought the earrings would be cute for Valentine's Day. It's snowing right now and it's going to be a LONG time before I can wear the sandals, but for only $20 I c...
LET'S LOOK: HOW WE CLEAN OUR CLOSETS I was hoping this post would motivate me to organize my closet, but sadly I didn't get to it. I even had a snow day yesterday so no excuses. I did get a bunch of other chores done, but closets wasn't one of them. These are not Pinterest worth photos, but real life. I don't really have a system for cleaning my closets. I do purge on a regular basis. My master closet is small and doesn't have room for my clothing for all the seasons, so I switch it out in the spring/summer and fall/winter and do major purges then. I also do the kids' closets a few times a year.  Here is our coat closet. This one generally stays pretty tidy. My school just had a coat drive so I purged recently.  This is the upstairs linen closet. Both kids have a basket for their linens. I store our travel tote bags on the top shelf. The rest is just a random assortment. Here's where the chaos begins. Sometimes I have everything hanging according to color an...
Cheers to the long weekend! After school we're heading up to Okemo, VT for our annual ski trip with friends.....so most of my Friday Favorites are ski-related because that is what is on my brain these days.  1. OBERMEYER SKI JACKET AND PANTS : My ski jacket was over 10 years old so for Christmas Brian got me this new Obermeyer Cosima jacket . We went back and forth on the color but ultimately I picked Cloudless. I wore it at Mt. Tremblant and loved it. I decided to invest in new ski pants too since mine were pretty old and didn't fit well anymore. I got the Obermeyer Bliss pant in white . I really like how the waistband is adjustable if I gain a few pounds or have too much chili and beer at lunch! 2. Athalon Boot bags . I could NOT keep our stuff organized if it wasn't for our boot bags. Laura and Jack are responsible for carrying their own bags at the mountain and these make it easy. We store our gear in them between trips and I do a check before we leave to make sure we h...
MONT TREMBLANT When we first decided we wanted to go away the week between Christmas and New Year's, I was imagining somewhere warm by the beach. As my mom would say, I have champagne taste and a beer budget. After doing lots of research and realizing it wasn't in the cards this year, I shifted to planning a ski trip. I thought of Mt. Tremblant because although it is in driving distance from where we live in NY, it has a European vibe. Before this trip, I was only there once, about 20 years ago (crazy to think it's been that long!). I knew the quaint village would have a lot to offer my non-skiing husband. Then I reached out to another family we love and asked them if they wanted to join...they said yes and a plan came to fruition! WHERE WE STAYED There are several hotels and condos at the base of the mountain that are ski-in and ski-out. By the time I was planning this strip (around October) they were already booked. The first time I went to Tremblant I stayed at the Westi...
